Come What May
TA-DA! This was our hard work okay. We walked around Pyramid for close to 2 hours before finding this dress. Went into SO many shops and they didn't have anything suitable. Ri Hao wanted a super sexy dress that would grab attention and would be suitable for clubbing. You'd think that'd be easy to find right? WRONG. Even fail-safe Forever 21 where we gave Ka-Yee all those sexy clothing makeovers failed me that day!! Thank goodness Ms. Selfridge saved the day. *Phew!*
I swear, things always appear when you don't need them and when you do, they magically dissapear. Meh.
I thought the ending was so ironic! As we all know, this is the first movie that Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet star in together since Titanic. And in Titanic, Leo dies and Kate lives; in this movie, Kate dies and Leo lives. Ironic kan? That aside, their acting was superb and I guess this movie says a lot about life, relationships, marriage and ambitions- finding out what you really want in life. I've always like Leo coz I think he's a great actor, but after watching this and The Reader, I think I'm adding Kate Winslet into my favourite actress list too. ;)

Happily Ever After
But what happens after? What happens after the happily ever after? When things start to fall into a routine, when problems start to arise, when the person who we thought would give us that happy ending changes. Will love still prevail then?
I find too many women settle. They settle for whatever they have at the time due to various reasons. Pressure would one of the main reasons I think. When all your friends are off getting married and starting to have babies, you’d feel so left out. It may sound stupid now, but really the pressure is quite intense. When everyone is asking you whether or not you’re getting married soon and your own biological clock is ticking, you settle. Fear is another one. What if you break up with him now but can’t find another boyfriend after? Better to just continue. If it ain’t broken, why fix it right? Even if you don’t feel the sparks anymore, even if you realize that ultimately you and him seem better off as friends than lovers.
And that’s the root of most marital problems I think. That, and the fact that everyone takes forgranted of their other half. They forget that it’s the little things that matter. The simple I Love You-s, the habitual hugs and kisses that lets your partner know how much you appreciate them. Why do all these seem so common when people are dating, yet they dwindle off when people are married? The passion, the fire, where has it all gone?
And so, women turn a blind eye to their cheating husbands loveless marriages. Out of duty as a wife and mostly to their children. Especially in Asian societies. Ignorance is bliss but is feigned ignorance the same? I have seen so many, too many in fact, marriages that are not based on love anymore but a sense of duty to the kids. And they think the kids will sense that nothing is wrong. Oh, how naïve all these people are!
And of course, money. The main thing that holds most marriages together. The root of all evil indeed but all the same, it makes the world go round and people happy.
I guess what I’m trying to say is, in the future when we contemplate whether or not to say ‘I Do’, remember the consequences of those two words. Remember that this is the rest of your life. Messy divorces not factored in of course. Remember that you should be able to accept you partner for who they are and love them unconditionally. Remember that when you’re old and grey, you actually want someone that you’d be able to talk to. Remember that this arduous journey called life is meaningless unless we have someone to share it with. And make sure, that someone is the one you’re getting married to. Otherwise, it is rather pointless isn’t it?
So this is my note to my future self. My little reminder on my own happily ever after which is yet to come if I am blessed enough to enjoy one. On my last outing with Wee, she reminded me that I should find someone that would match my awesomeness, and settle for nothing less. Well, I fully agree. Let that be a reminder for every girl out there: You are awesome, and the person you’re with should totally appreciate your awesome-ness. Otherwise, he’s just not worth your time. He should accept you for who you are and you should never be belittled or made to feel inferior. It is my belief that for marriage to work and love to prevail, you should see each other as equals. Maybe not physically, but intellectually and emotionally.
Anyway, I attended two weddings in December last year. I sincerely hope that they find their happily ever after-s.
This was my first proper church wedding that I attended.
The church was pretty big and air-conditioned. Very cool.
Adorable flower girls. However, one of them got scared while walking down the aisle and started crying. The other had to pull her along. Awww.
My sister was the maid of honour. She looks lovely doesn't she? Her best friend was the bride.
Sorry for the poor quality pictures. I was still using my Casio at the time.
The pastor gave this speech that I totally did not agree with- about how women should submit to men and respect them. That respect comes before love and many other appaling things. But even worse was the people there actually AGREED with him and his views on women and were nodding their heads. Sigh, but I shall not mention it here lah. It is supposed to be a happy occassion after all.
Her dress with the super long train. I'm telling you guys now larh, if you want me to be one of your bridesmaids, please don't wear dresses with long trains however princessessy and fairytale esque it is. I don't want to spend every 5 minutes adjusting your train and making sure no one steps on it, including the groom. I am offending a lot of people by saying this hor? I forsee my name being cut off from the bidesmaids list liao but nevermind, I will still be happy to attend as a guest. ;)
Pei Tze and Denzil's wedding
My cousin sister got married. :)
Food was good!
This is the second book in the Tales of the Otori series. My father's business friend's wife (complex eh?) gave me the complete set as a gift after she found out I liked reading. So generous of her. She insisted that this series was one of her personal favourites because it was a really good read and I must say I agree with her. Check it out if you have the time. Highly recommended. Sigh, and this is what I've been doing. Reading storybooks from morning till night when I should be studying like Kit Mun. I just don't learn do I? I can't help it lorh, once I start reading, I cannot put the book down wan. To the extent that my mom had to confisticate my storybooks when exams rolled around when I was younger. It runs in the family larh. My sister and I are all bookworms at heart.

What Can I Do
I try! I really do. =/
Anyway, I'm currently buried 6 feet under with assignments in addition to being as sick as a dog coz of this horrible sore throat that hurts everytime I swallow. Hence, I'm gonna talk about something mindless that makes me happy to take my mind of things, like... manicures & pedicures!! =)
I can't remember when I started going for mani/pedi-s but I remember it was my eldest sis who got me hooked! She brought me to Bangsar Village 2, Chic Nail Spa by Soong Ai Ling and to this day, it's still the place I go to when I want my nails to look pretty.
The thing about manicures and pedicures is that if you don't start doing it, you don't see what the fuss is. But once you start, you can't stop! The feeling of looking at your nails all buffed, neat and with no dead skin just gives one a feeling of immense satisfaction!
And of course choosing the different colours makes me feel like a little kid in the candy store again- a little overwhelmed but yet supremely happy and excited.
You might be thinking:"All this over nail colour?"
But really it's one the most relaxing things you can do to pamper yourself and indulge in life's little luxuries.
TA-DA! Drawn on my Soong Ai Ling herself. She really is really super talented with nail art!
See the amount of detail? So awesome! Imagine how steady one's hand must be to do that! :0
I wouldn't say this is my favourite pedicure of all time but I can't seem to find the older pics of my mani/pedi-s so yeah, I'll just post the recent ones. =) It is still pretty cool.
My favourite colours for toe nails are dark purple and dark blue in case you were wondering!
If you guys want to try something new, try those two colours! You won't regret it.
And this is my second favourite manicure of all time. The snowflake was just really cute (not to mention incredibly hard to draw since it was so tiny 0_o).
Again drawn by Soong Ai Ling herself. She's pretty awesome. I highly recommend going to her shop if you ever want to get your nails done.
Sigh, I supposed I should go do something productive now. IF (note: IF) I can wean myself off doing mindless things like playing Pet Society and watching Gossip Girl. Damn!
Currently listening to- Nan Quan Mama
Currently hooked on- Gossip Girl Season 2
Currently addicted to- Pet Society
Last watched film- Elephant (it's an experimental film we had to watch for Film Studies. Very interesting camera angles and the usage of long takes and stuff. A lot of people found it weird but I thought it was pretty cool and realistic in a sense.)
So there you have it! A little update on my life. =)

Now & Then
You guys care enough to drop me comments every time you visit my blog to badger me to blog.
You guys care enough to ask me why I never blog anymore when you see me.
You guys care enough to say that you don't know what's going on in my life anymore because I don't blog.
It's really quite a trivial thing, but it makes me feel loved and blessed.
I am lucky to have every one of you.
Really and truly.
I never did get the chance to say thank you did I?
So here it is. Thank you for being such awesome friends.
I love all of you!
I also didn't get the chance to thank everyone for the awesome 18th birthday eh?
It may have 4 months ago, but I still want to thank everyone for all the terrific presents and well-wishes.
It really meant a lot.
Thank you.

First of all, thanks to these wonderful bunch of people I met during my 18th year on this world.
Without you guys, college wouldn't have what it was- insanely fun and crazy.
I loved my present. I've been wanting it for the longest time ever and I am insanely touched you guys remembered just because I said so in Langkawi.
And the card- it rocked socks. So did all the other presents mind you.
My family, ever the greatest, brought me to El Cerdo on the day itself.Psst: Obviously, my sister wasn't too keen on seeing me chop up the pig. Look at her expression. Teehee. She actually shrieked when I did that.
That was me, cutting the pig, making a wish and breaking the plate as is their custom over there.Awesome dinner. ^_^

Not to forget, the presents from the cousins.
This present is so crazily cool it's not even funny.
Thanks so SO much for this cousins.
Switchfoot autographed posters and their CD! Really, need I say more?

This is my hoard of Roxy presents from Aussie given of course by my sister.
Oh and a very cute and surprisingly quite tasty Christmas cookie on the left hand corner.

And the Roxy earmuffs!!!!
So incredibly cute and fluffy! Can't wait to wear this.
Thank you darling Mins!

My lovely family who came to visit me during lunch break on my birthday.
We were having yummylicious coffee at San Francisco at my office.

And this is Adele Wong, who drove all the way to surprise me at work on the day itself.
Did I mention how touched I was?
Sorry darling we couldn't celebrate your birthday on the day itself but I really hope you liked your presents. I immediately thought of you when I saw it.
May angels look after you always!
And of course, my sweet, friendly colleagues who celebrated my birthday on my third day of interning- the exact day itself might I add.
I'm sure everyone is sick of me saying how touched I am right?
It was more yummylicious than usual coz of the effort behind it.
And last but not least, the present from my eldest sister.
Tag Heuer Aqua Racer with blue mother of pearl face.
Did I mention how blessed I was?
Anyway, I'm not gonna promise another post soon.
Because I don't really wanna break ANOTHER promise.
I'll tell you the truth, I haven't blogged in such a long time because blogging is starting to feel like such a chore. A responsibility.
And I don't want it to feel that way.
I started blogging back in Xanga for fun, for self-expression so I don't want something that used to fun turn into something that I feel compelled to do.
However, do not despair!
I have strong blogging urges from time to time! (Like today, otherwise you wouldn't be reading this! =P)
But seriously, getting used to another blog hosting site is exhausting.
Blogger is pretty different from Xanga I have to admit.
But I'm getting there. Made some slight changes here and there and tweaked some stuff to my satisfaction.
Alright. Till here for now.
Toodles!
Currently listening to- all the Disney theme songs
Supercalifragilisticexapialidocious anyone?

Starlight
So here it is- my long awaited first post in my new blog.
3. KAMPAI KAMPAI KAMPAI!
I think that's pretty much self-explanatory. It was our favourite alcoholic drink in Langkawi. Ann liked it so much that she drank it the first thing in the morning on our last day! Alcohol and chocolates actually. We had packs and packs of Kinder Bueno too coz it was cheap!
Our margaritas by the beach. Yummylicious!
4. Watching sunsets by the beach.
The breath-taking, stunningly beautiful, picturesque scenery unfolding before your very eyes makes you appreciate nature so much more!
6. Telaga Tujuh waterfall
Climbing up the waterfall and sitting on the rocks letting the cold, refreshing water tumbling down the waterfall splash and sprinkle upon you... it doesn't get any better than that!
The singers. ;)
8. Staying up till late at night gossiping.
Hmm...I guess we were pretty noisy because people from the next room basically banged the wall and told us to shut up. Oops!
The gossipers. Minus Nick. Oh and Teik Chi. And Russell!
9. The Loaf
I know we have The Loaf in Pavilion. But the atmosphere at The Loaf there and here is so different! Maybe it's because The Loaf in Langkawi is the orginal outlet plus it's at a harbour where all the yatchs and boats owned by the rich and famous are docked making the atmosphere so much more different than the one here in Malaysia located right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city. The atmosphere in Langkawi is more of a lazy, relaxing one I suppose. I loved the cheesecakes and coffee at The Loaf.
Where The Loaf is located in Langkawi.
10. The holiday mood.
That relaxing, laze-around-and-do-nothing, idle holiday mood which seems so faraway now that uni has started is something I sorely miss. And lazing around with in the company of awesome friends is even better!
