And so I have turned 19. It honestly felt like any other day. Which I knew it would. (you can this post here to see how I feel about age)

The thing is, when I was younger, I always thought that at 19 I'd be all mature and smarter and I'd figure out what I want in life and which direction I should take. You know, I thought I'd be the girl who had everything together and all that. But I guess when I was only 10 years old, 19 seemed like it was so far away when in reality, it passed in the blink of an eye.
Now that I AM 19, I guess I feel disappointed that I not that smart. I haven't matured all that much. My thoughts and actions can be so unbearably childish and selfish and vindictive sometimes. I have no idea where I'm heading or which direction I'm paddling towards in this big river called Life. Even my VOICE hasn't lost that kiddy-like tinge to it that my sister likes to tease me about. :(

Having said that, I guess 19 is just like any other age I've been at. And besides, when I 19, I'm 18 and 17 and 10 and 5 all at once right? :) And I've learnt that what we want in life changes constantly, and we never have a clear picture of it. And that change is constant and unwavering. And we can sum everything up about life in 3 words: It Goes On (according to Bob Marley if I'm not mistaken. Best quote ever!) I've learnt that time stops for on one no matter how hard we wish it to. I've learnt that my friends are such awesome beings, I wouldn't know what to do without them. I've learnt that friendships require much effort and genuine love for them to last and go the distance which I hope I can maintain, because I really REALLY love all my friends now and would hate to see us fall apart. I've learnt that you can be whoever you want to be- because in the end, it's really up to you. I've learnt that life's really short, so we should all spend more time doing the things we like, discovering ourselves, feeling truly ALIVE. Don't waste your time with people who don't make you feel alive because really, life's too short for it to be wasted away pleasing other people. Don't make someone a priority when they only make you an option, because we all deserve better.

And I guess, this is what counts right?

Anyway, my 19th birthday was a blast! A day before, my primary school friends surprised me with a cake, a present and an awesome dinner. You guys are so sweet la... thank you so much! I'm glad to have friends like you guys, you don't know how much it means to me.

The food they prepared. Everything was really good. And I'm really touched you guys put so much effort into organizing this- the facebook messages and MSN meetings.

You guys rock! <3

All of my awesome friends present that day.

My present- perfume

Funny story here. I have NEVER bought my own perfume believe it or not. They have always been gifts from other people. If this keeps up, I really will never have to buy my own. My first perfume was Glow by J.Lo given to me by my aunty as a birthday present. The second one was Issey Miyake given to me by my sister after she bought it and realized the scent gave her a headache. The one I'm currently using now- DKNY Red Apple was actually last year's birthday present by the college gang.

Pretty awesome huh?

After dinner we adjourned to Ri Hao's room and played these really insanely funny drinking games. I was laughing so hard my cheeks hurt man! But it was all good fun as they waited for it to be midnight and once it was, they toasted really REALLY weird and funny things for my birthday.

The girls.

Self timed group pictures!

Cake cutting time! Loved the pretty candles.

It was an awesome countdown indeed!

My birthday itself was spent having a yummylicious lunch at MV Sushi ZanMai with the family. Met up with darling Adele after that who teman-ed me to get Melissa's present. Yes, my birthday was spent shopping for somebody else's present. Lol XD

Mel I hope you like your present! I personally adore the reindeer slippers.

And for dinner, we hit Pavilion to try The C. Club! A gastronomic adventure post coming up real soon. Prepare to salivate!

Yay Swan updates!!!!!!!!!

Growing up isn't about getting to a certain age. Age is just a number, we don't magically become smart and matured when we turn a certain age.

What matters the most is that every day you strive to be a better person.

Life throws us challenges all the time, sometimes we feel lost, and it seems that we live in a life full of uncertainty. Or sometimes it seems that certain things are just too hard to face.

It's up to each one of us to face these challenges. And when we stand up to life's obstacles and triumph over them, that's when we really grow up =)
